Hong Kong Fashion Fest Opens with VIRTUOSE Couture Show

The Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association (HKFDA) opened the third Hong Kong Fashion Fest yesterday with a major couture shows. Titled VIRTUOSE: The Artistry of Couture 2026, the event transformed the Hong Kong Palace Museum into a runway stage.

Sponsored by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency, the immersive presentation aimed to cement Hong Kong's status as an international haute couture hub. The show was framed by four architectural arches representing styles from a traditional Chinese courtyard to Franco-Vietnamese design. It drew a crowd of global fashion figures, industry leaders, and celebrities like Louise Wong, Susie Lau, Irene Kim, and Hanan Besovic.

The Four Designers

The runway united four emerging and established couture brands from Hong Kong, Spain, and Vietnam. International supermodel Christina Chung led a diverse cast in presenting a collective 40 bespoke looks.

Guillermo Décimo represented Spain. The label is led by Guillermo Díez López, who honed his craft at the Museo Balenciaga. His hand-crafted pieces celebrate theatricality, heritage, and the principles of slow fashion.

From Vietnam, Phan Huy presented a collection featuring detailed silk weaving and traditional hand-embroidery. The designer recently made history as the youngest Vietnamese designer on the official Paris Haute Couture Week calendar. His work also incorporated modern 3D draping techniques.

Hong Kong's Couture Voices

Two Hong Kong-based ateliers completed the lineup, each offering a distinct vision of modern couture. Tigerstrolling Artisanal delivered deconstructed tailoring and unconventional proportions. Founded in 2025 by Tiger Chung (Chung Tsz-ho and Chung Ka-ching), the label uses upcycled materials to bridge everyday object subversion with high-fashion technique.

Vivian Luk Atelier focused on sculptural fluidity in its designs. Founder Vivian Luk is a former Vera Wang designer. Her collection incorporated hidden corset boning, precision bias cuts, and structured fabrications built for bespoke client styling.

From Runway to Retail

Following the museum shows, the event moves to a private ordering exhibition. This exclusive session is held today at The Four Seasons Hotel in Central. It provides private clients and media an intimate opportunity to view and acquire pieces from the collections shown on the runway. According to Hypebeast, the transition from public spectacle to private salon is a key part of the couture experience.
