PLEASURES has teamed with Umbro on a capsule collection that reframes the sportswear brand's football roots through 1990s British music culture

The range spans football shirts, track jackets, training pieces and sportswear, drawing on the era when kit and casualwear became one and the same

Its reference points are the wardrobes of Blur’s Damon Albarn and Oasis’ Liam Gallagher, two faces of the decade's football-meets-music attitude

PLEASURES and Umbro have joined forces on a capsule collection that reads Umbro’s football history through a distinctly musical lens. Built around the crossover of sport, sound and style that defined 1990s Britain, the collaboration looks back to a moment when a football shirt was as likely to turn up at a gig as on the terraces.

The collection pulls from classic Umbro product, revisiting the point in the ’90s when football shirts, track jackets, training gear and general sportswear slipped effortlessly into everyday dress. That blurring is the whole premise: kit stripped of its matchday context and absorbed into a broader wardrobe, worn less for allegiance than for how it looked and felt. PLEASURES leans into that idea rather than treating it as nostalgia, framing the pieces as everyday staples first.

The tonal anchor is the dress sense of Blur’s Damon Albarn and Oasis’ Liam Gallagher, two figures the release positions as shorthand for the understated, rebellious streak of ’90s British youth culture. Their look, all oversized silhouettes, vintage sportswear and loose, casual layering, sat squarely at the intersection of football, music and streetwear, and it is that unbothered attitude, the sense of wearing something simply because it clicked, that the capsule sets out to capture.

For PLEASURES, the pairing is a natural fit. The Los Angeles label has built its identity on music-rooted references, and channeling Umbro’s heritage through the terrace-and-gig culture of the era lets both names play to their strengths. The result is less a straight football drop than a study of how sport and subculture dressed alike for a brief, influential window.

The PLEASURES x Umbro capsule collection drops Friday, September 4 PLEASURES and select retailers.
