Hobonichi Techo has revealed the 2027 “Stride” cover, a collaboration with the lifestyle brand POTR. The cover, which launches on September 1, is designed to function like a small bag, crafted from bonding-treated nylon and featuring a removable shoulder strap.
The partnership draws directly on the heritage of POTR's parent company, Yoshida & Co., the Japanese manufacturer behind the PORTER label. The “Stride” cover applies that bag-making expertise to the planner, moving it beyond pure stationery into the realm of everyday carry goods.
Material and Design
The cover is constructed from a supple nylon that has undergone Yoshida & Co.’s signature bonding treatment. This gives the material a matte, soft-touch finish. The entire piece is reimagined as a compact carry item, wrapping the planner in this technical fabric.
Functional Features
A bag-like functionality is central to the design. A front flap pocket provides quick access for small items like earphones. On the back, a pocket secured with a one-touch snap fastener is sized for frequently grabbed essentials.
Opening the zippered cover reveals an organized interior layout. On the left side are three card pockets and a clear pocket. The right side features a zippered mesh pocket. A pen hook accommodates slim pens directly or can clip thicker models. The included black shoulder strap is both removable and adjustable, enabling true hands-free carry.

The cover launches in two versions, each aligned with a specific Hobonichi Techo planner size and presented in a distinct color palette.

The peacock blue A6 version is intended as a stylish accent. The larger evergreen A5 Cousin model offers a deeper, more composed tone. The Cousin's back pocket is also roomier, designed to hold a smartphone alongside documents. Both covers are finished with a circular logo stitched on the front.
By building the cover to function independently, the collaboration targets the Hobonichi community that views the techo as a daily companion. The design nudges the planner further into everyday-carry territory, positioning it between a notebook and a small bag. The “Stride” covers will be available from the Hobonichi Techo online store starting September 1 at 11 a.m. Japan time.
