News: Lil Luv Dog, a US pet care brand, has launched its clean beauty products for dogs at Selfridges, marking its UK debut

Lil Luv Dog has launched its clean beauty products for dogs at Selfridges, marking the brand's debut in the UK market. The new liquid shampoo and leave-in conditioning mist joined the existing product line earlier this month.

According to the brand, its products are designed for a complete wash routine. The liquid shampoo gently cleanses without disrupting a dog's skin barrier. The leave-in conditioning mist detangles, softens, and refreshes coats between baths without requiring rinsing.

UK Launch at Selfridges

Founder Cara Santana-Leto explained the choice of Selfridges as the first international retail partner. She stated the brand wanted a retailer that shared its vision for the future of beauty and culture. Santana-Leto noted that British consumers have a deeply emotional relationship with their dogs, with 94 percent considering their dog part of the family.

She said Selfridges felt like the ideal place to introduce Lil Luv Dog. The department store has always been at the forefront of redefining what belongs in beauty, she added. For the founders, this move is about establishing pet beauty as a global beauty category, not just bringing an American brand to the UK.

The products are available in Selfridges' Oxford Street, Birmingham, Manchester Trafford, and Manchester Exchange stores, as well as online.

A Beauty Routine for Dogs

Co-founder Stephanie Suganami said the assortment at Selfridges allows customers to discover Lil Luv Dog as a complete beauty routine for their dogs. She explained that she and Santana-Leto founded the brand because they saw a disconnect between sophisticated human beauty products and what was offered for dogs.

Suganami said they approach pet grooming through the lens of beauty: thoughtful formulations, elevated fragrance, beautiful design, sustainability and transparency around ingredients. The brand's Dry Shampoo was the first pet grooming product to receive Environmental Working Group (EWG) Verified certification.

Lil Luv Dog products are available in two signature scents: cactus flower and oat. The brand positions itself at a premium price point.

Target Audience and Retail Strategy

Suganami described the target customer as someone intentional about what they put on their own skin and bring into their home. This person increasingly wants to bring the same consideration to their dog. The customer may be a beauty, fashion, or design consumer, or simply a devoted dog parent.

She said they don't think you should have to be a 'pet person' to understand Lil Luv Dog.

In the US, the brand uses a varied retail model. It is sold through a mix of physical retail and e-commerce with partners across beauty, fashion, and lifestyle, including independent specialty retailers and experiential environments like Pop Up Grocer. The brand has intentionally avoided relying solely on traditional pet stores.

Suganami expects the physical retail presence in the US to grow as the product assortment expands. While there are no plans for a permanent standalone store, the brand is very interested in physical experiences. Suganami pointed out that dogs are inherently experiential. The brand is exploring pop-ups, takeovers, beauty suites, and other concepts to define what a Lil Luv Dog physical world could look like.
