Italian cashmere house Malo has partnered with New York-based stylist and fashion editor George Cortina on a new capsule collection. The limited-edition edit comprises 12 knitwear pieces that revisit the brand's archive.

Crafted from the brand's signature cashmere, the capsule offers updated versions of classic menswear silhouettes. The pieces launch in new, vibrant colors described as crayon-like, including grass green, lavender, burgundy, and melon.

The Collection's Inspiration

George Cortina stated that exploring Malo's archive was a revelation. He described it as a trove of technical creativity dating back to the brand's 1972 foundation. Cortina said he was reminded of the distinction and effortless character of leading men from that cinematic era.

Shaping this collection has been a process of blending that spirit of 'sprezzatura' with Malo's signature archival techniques, then applying a cinematic filter to set the resulting garments firmly in the present, he added.

The Edit's Pieces

The capsule includes a range of knitwear styles. Key items are long-sleeve polo shirts, double-collar crewnecks, turtlenecks, and ski sweaters. Also featured are argyles, half-zip styles, bombers, a shawl cardigan, and a knitted blazer.

The knitted blazer is named 'George'. Malo says it is shaped after a Savile Row jacket from Cortina's own wardrobe.

A Precise Editorial Eye

Malo's chief executive officer, Michelle Kessler-Sanders, praised Cortina's editorial instincts. She said George Cortina has a rare eye for what makes clothing feel relevant, not only correct. Kessler-Sanders wanted an editor's precise approach to the vast archive.

She stated that Cortina found the current in their classic menswear without losing what made it classic. The CEO highlighted his ability to know what to sharpen, rather than believing everything must change.

Availability and Pricing

The collection will debut at the end of September. It will be available exclusively through Malo's e-commerce site and at their recently revamped flagship store on Via della Spiga in Milan.

Malo is scheduled to present its mainline spring 2027 collection during the upcoming Milan Fashion Week. The presentation is set for Thursday. The brand, founded in 1972 and based in Florence, was acquired by Glickman Capital in 2025.
