New York Fashion Week SS27 Highlights Coach, Collina Strada

New York Fashion Week's Spring/Summer 2027 season has begun with shows from Coach, Cult Gaia, and others. The schedule includes birthday celebrations and vacation wardrobe styling.

Collina Strada staged its show at the Storm King Art Center in Orange County. The collection offered a nature-themed escape with Victorian, Medieval, and punk-rock influences. Designs featured oversized silhouettes in vibrant colors, using deadstock fabrics, chiffon, organza, and recycled sequins.

Carolina Herrera's Uptown Glamour

Carolina Herrera focused on classic uptown glamour for SS27. The collection blended tailored precision with playful color, using taxi-cab yellow, chili red, and cucumber green. Structural tailoring appeared in stretch-cotton shirts, double-breasted coats, and high-waisted wool trousers. These were paired with relaxed denim, a fabric often composed of cotton with elastane or polyester for stretch and durability. The lineup also included fluid silk chiffon gowns with elegant polka dots, windowpane tweed, and corded floral laces.

Sport and Culture Mixes

Private Policy explored a mix of basketball, Y2K, and global fashion influences. The collection examined cross-cultural dialogue between New York and China through basketball. Athletic jersey knits and deconstructed court silhouettes met sharp outer layers and Paris Hilton-esque dresses.

LaQuan Smith presented at the Winter Garden at Brookfield Place. The collection explored tension between exotic plumage and sinuous skins, redefining sharp suiting and resort-to-evening wear.

Conner Ives marked his first American show since his time in England. The collection merged New York and London styles, featuring matador outfits, flapper dresses, and retro dinner party looks in silks with hand-painted brushstrokes. The catwalk included models Lila Moss, Iris Law, Dominique Jackson, and the Dupont Twins.

Community and Craft Highlights

Sandy Liang's collection merged technical utility with fairytale fantasy. It balanced gorpcore with princess details, featuring track pants with ruffles and lace shimmering with clear paillettes. Accessories included multi-pocketed purses and gem-eyed bunny shoes.

KidSuper's Colm Dillane, teaming with Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, presented the second annual People's Runway at Brooklyn Borough Hall. The public spectacle showed five local designers who each received a $5,000 grant and mentorship. The show closed with a musical performance by Wyclef Jean and Ms. Lauryn Hill.

Dauphinette designer Olivia Cheng presented a 24-look collection titled "Lady Mondegreen" at Genesis House. The lineup explored transformation and memory, debuting an innovative textile called "Florganza" that fuses pressed botanicals into silk. The collection use over 1,900 preserved flowers and featured hand-beaded details on items like a ThirdLove bra.

Kim Shui drew inspiration from Peking Opera and birds of paradise. The collection used saturated colors, kinetic fringe, and feather accents, blending traditional brocade and embroidery with sheer lace cutouts.

Christian Cowan staged his show at The Glasshouse, channeling old Hollywood allure. The collection used archival 1920s and 1950s textiles, like a 1930s beaded panel train, alongside crystal corsetry and plunging silk gowns.
